PM:’No foreign interference before Budget session for first time’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that for the first time in a decade, there was no foreign interference ahead of Parliament’s Budget session, contrasting it with past attempts to spread “false narratives.” Speaking before the session, Modi said he was confident the Budget would instill new energy in achieving the goal of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

The government has listed 16 bills for the session, alongside financial business, and Modi described them as “historic.” He emphasized that the focus would be on “reform, perform, and transform.” The session will start with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to both Houses. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey, followed by the presentation of the Union Budget for FY26 on Feb. 1—her eighth consecutive Budget. The session, Parliament’s longest in a year, runs until April 4, with a recess from February 13 to March 10.
