12 Naxalites killed in encounter with security forces at Odisha-Chhattisgarh border

At least 14 Naxalites, including a top leader, were killed in a joint operation by the CRPF, Special Operations Group (SOG) Odisha, and Chhattisgarh Police near the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border, officials said today. Jayram alias Chalapathi, a Central Committee member of the Naxalite group with a bounty of ₹1 crore, was among those killed. Security forces recovered a large cache of weapons, including automatic rifles like the SLR.

“This is another mighty blow to Naxalism,” said Home Minister Amit Shah, confirming the operation. ” Our security forces achieved major success towards building a Naxal-free Bharat. The CRPF, SoG Odisha, and Chhattisgarh Police neutralised 14 Naxalites in a joint operation along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. With our resolve for a Naxal-free India and the joint efforts of our security forces, Naxalism is breathing its last today, ” the Home Minister further said.
