Punjab MLA Gurpreet Gogi from Ludhiana West was found dead in his home late Friday, after being shot with his service revolver, police said. The incident occurred around midnight, with initial investigations suggesting an accidental discharge. Gogi, a prominent leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was rushed to Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed shock over the tragedy, saying, “Very sad to hear about the untimely demise of MLA Gurpreet Gogi ji. He was a kind-hearted person. My heartfelt condolences to his family in this hour of grief. May God grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family.” AAP leaders and senior police officials visited Ludhiana to review the situation. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact circumstances of the shooting.
