External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Wednesday highlighted the crucial role of the younger generation in shaping India’s future. He emphasized that youth are central to global innovations such as AI, electric vehicles, space exploration, and startups, and their involvement is key to India’s progress.
While addressing the gathering during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2025 celebrations, Dr. Jaishankar stressed the importance of the “Viksit Bharat” vision, which is aimed at empowering today’s youth to lead the nation. He reflected on Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, citing PV Sindhu’s admiration for Modi’s transformation of India’s mindset from “chalta hai” to “hoga kaise nahin?”
India’s resilience in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, its achievements in space exploration like Chandrayaan-3, and the widespread adoption of UPI were highlighted as examples of the country’s growing global presence. The minister also pointed to the rise of over 90,000 startups as a testament to India’s innovation-driven future.
Dr. Jaishankar noted that various government initiatives, from Swacch Bharat to Ayushman Bharat, are designed to empower youth, providing them with the necessary resources to succeed in a global economy.
The minister also stressed the importance of keeping strong ties with the Indian diaspora, encouraging young PIOs to promote India as a prime tourism destination.
In closing, Dr. Jaishankar celebrated Odisha’s cultural and developmental progress, describing the youth there as a symbol of India’s future potential to blend tradition with modernity in its pursuit of inclusive growth.
