Jaipur, July 1

Eight people were killed and 24 others were injured after a passenger bus collided with a truck and caught fire on the Delhi Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district early Wednesday, police said. The accident occurred near Dhanawda under the Kolwa police station area.
According to Dausa Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit, five passengers were burnt alive in the fire that engulfed the bus, while two others died at the spot after sustaining severe head injuries. Another injured passenger later succumbed to burn injuries at a hospital.
Police said the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment soon after the accident. Rescue teams reached the spot and carried out relief operations to evacuate passengers and assist the injured.
Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited as officials continue their inquiry into the incident.
