4,085 voters to decide 7 seats in Manali Municipal Council polls

The announcement of election dates has intensified the political atmosphere in Manali, where 4,085 voters will decide the fate of candidates across seven wards of the Municipal Council.

Of the total electorate, 1,928 are women, and 2,157 are men who will exercise their voting rights. Ward-wise figures show that Ward 1 Doongri has 369 voters, including 181 women and 188 men. Ward 2 Bhajogi has 733 voters, with 342 women and 391 men. Ward 3 School Area has 474 voters, including 233 women and 241 men.

Ward 4 Model Town has the highest number of voters at 802, comprising 361 women and 441 men. Ward 5 Manu Market has 481 voters, including 211 women and 270 men. Ward 6 Gompa area has 548 voters, with 273 women and 275 men. Ward 7 Police Station area has 678 voters, including 327 women and 351 men.

The local administration has completed all preparations for the elections. Sub Divisional Magistrate Manali, Gunjit Singh Cheema, said that arrangements are in place to ensure smooth conduct of the polls.

He said nomination papers can be filed on April 29 and 30, and on May 2, between 11 am and 3 pm, at the SDM office. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is May 6 until 3 pm, after which election symbols will be allotted to candidates the same day. Polling will take place on May 17, and the results will be declared on the same day, he added.
