UCC for Jharkhand, tribals to be excluded: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plans to introduce a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Jharkhand, excluding the tribal community from its scope. Speaking at the party’s manifesto release event in Ranchi, Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting tribal culture and laws.

Shah also accused the local administrations in Bengal and Jharkhand of enabling infiltration, despite the presence of the Border Security Force (BSF). “There is BSF in Assam and everywhere, but infiltration has not stopped due to local encouragement,” Shah stated. He urged voters to elect a BJP government to ensure firm measures, including deportation of infiltrators.

Addressing rumors allegedly spread by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress, Shah reassured that UCC implementation would not affect tribal rights. He also criticized Chief Minister Hemant Soren, claiming the BJP’s goal was not personal but aimed at ending alleged corruption under Soren’s leadership.
