Two associates of a foreign-based terror operative have been arrested in Mohali following an operation that led to the seizure of an improvised explosive device (IED), Punjab Police said. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday that the arrests were made by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in SAS Nagar as part of efforts to dismantle cross-border terror networks.

According to police, the operation resulted in the recovery of an IED and helped foil an alleged plot targeting critical public infrastructure in SAS Nagar district.Yadav said the timely intervention had averted what could have been a serious threat to public safety and security.

Investigators are now working to identify the wider network behind the alleged conspiracy, including handlers, associates and other links connected to the case.
