Patiala, July 20
An elderly woman was allegedly robbed of her gold earring by three motorcycle-borne youths near Gurdwara Sri Dukh Nivaran Sahib in Patiala after offering prayers at the shrine. The incident was captured on CCTV, and police have launched a search for the accused.
According to police, the victim had visited the gurdwara with her daughter on the 18th to pay obeisance. The snatching took place near the rear side of the shrine while the two were returning after their visit.
Following the circulation of CCTV footage of the incident, police constituted teams to identify and arrest the suspects. A case has been registered against three unidentified youths at Anaj Mandi Police Station, Patiala.
The victim has been identified as Bhagwanti, a resident of Roorki village in Fatehgarh Sahib district. Police said the investigation is underway and efforts are being made to trace and apprehend the accused.
