Owner found his stolen Seltos after the thief revealed its location

Thieves targeted three houses in Sector 15 Panchkula, in a single night, stealing a mobile phone and car keys from one residence before driving away in a Seltos, which was later found abondoned in Industrial Area Phase 2 after one of the suspects called the owner and disclosed its location.

According to the family, two thieves were seen entering the upper floor of house number 1046 at around 2.30 am. CCTV footage showed them searching drawers in the lobby and dining hall before taking a mobile phone, charger and a bunch of car keys.

The thieves allegedly took the Seltos key from the bunch and left the remaining keys in the green belt opposite the house before driving away in the car. Around 5.30 am, Ankur Gupta realised that his mobile phone and car were missing. He used his wife’s phone to call his number.

According to the family, someone answered the call and told Gupta the car had been parked in Industrial Area Phase 2. The caller then switched off the phone. Gupta reached the location the caller mentioned and found the car parked there. The Police recovered the car with its key.

The family said the thieves had also entered two other houses in the area during the night, but did not find valuables or other items at those locations. The Police are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects and establish the sequence of events.

The incident has raised concerns among residents about night-time security in the area, though police have yet to identify those involved.
