Nayab cites Rs 18,538-crore school education allocation; says AI cannot replace human touch

“Technology may prepare lessons, but it cannot replace the human touch needed to encourage a disappointed student,” Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Teachers’ Day, while addressing the State Teacher Awards ceremony in Panchkula on Saturday.

Drawing a distinction between information and knowledge, Saini said artificial intelligence and digital technology had made information accessible with a single click, but could not replace the human role in education. Teachers, he said, played a vital role in shaping children’s lives and preparing them to face challenges with confidence.

Highlighting the state government’s efforts in the education sector, Saini said Rs 18,538 crore had been allocated for school education this year. The number of model schools had also been increased to 218, while funds were being provided for school maintenance and sports facilities.

Speaking about the Super 100 programme, Saini highlighted the achievements of its students, saying he had recently met 270 participants. “Many students from Haryana have secured admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), while 71 students have also qualified for NEET,” he added.

Saini said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had introduced the National Education Policy and encouraged students through initiatives such as ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’.

Recalling that Teachers’ Day is observed on the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s first Vice-President and a renowned educationist, the CM said every person who had attended school had received guidance from at least one mentor.

Referring to the teachings of Sant Kabir Das and Lord Krishna’s education under Guru Sandipani, Saini said educators helped the youth distinguish between information and knowledge.

Saini also said 12,500 startups had been established in Haryana during the past 12 years, generating returns worth crores. Schools in the state, he added, were being connected with modern education and new learning opportunities.

On the occasion, Saini extended his greetings and best wishes to all educators and acknowledged their contribution to society.
