Chandigarh, November 13
AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu has secured a strong lead in the Tarn Taran assembly by-election, with the latest figures from the Election Commission of India showing him ahead after 15 of 16 rounds of counting. Sandhu has so far polled 40,169 votes, putting him 11,317 votes ahead of his nearest rival, Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, who has received 28,852 votes.
Despite the Election Commission yet to make a formal announcement, AAP workers and leaders in the constituency have already begun celebrations, expressing confidence that the party is on course for victory. The final round of counting is still underway.
