Russia on Monday denied a report in The Washington Post claiming that President Vladimir Putin spoke to former U.S. President Donald Trump last week. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed the report, calling it “false information” and “completely made up.” “There was no conversation,” Peskov added.
The report, citing sources, claimed that Trump, during a phone call from his Florida residence, advised Putin to avoid escalating the war in Ukraine. It suggested Trump urged for a peaceful resolution and expressed openness to future talks. The conversation reportedly hinted at a potential peace agreement involving Russian control over some captured territories.
The Washington Post also revealed that Trump had reached out to about 70 global leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, though details on his peace strategy remain unclear.
