Chandigarh, October 21
The Haryana government has appointed former IAS officer Rajesh Khullar as Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Nayab Saini, effective from October 17. Khullar, who previously held the same position under former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, was initially granted the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister by the newly elected government.
Sources said however, following objections from members of the new council of ministers, the order was put on hold on October 18. According to revised orders issued on October 21, Khullar’s appointment will now be co-terminus with the CM’s term or until further notice, with no mention of Cabinet Minister status.
