Chandigarh, July 10
Punjab Police conducted 625 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state as part of the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, which entered its 171st day.
According to official information, the campaign was launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the objective of making Punjab a gangster-free state. Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), have been carrying out special operations across Punjab.
During the latest operation, police arrested 348 individuals and recovered three weapons. With these arrests, the total number of people apprehended under the campaign has reached 46,357 since its launch.
Police also took preventive action against 307 individuals and arrested 13 proclaimed offenders during the statewide operation.
The Punjab Police has appealed to the public to anonymously share information about wanted criminals, gangsters, and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the state’s anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, entered its 496th day with police arresting 59 alleged drug smugglers.
During the operation, police recovered 816 grams of heroin, 386 intoxicant pills and Rs 1.29 lakh in suspected drug money from the accused. The total number of alleged drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has now reached 72,813 in 496 days.
As part of its de-addiction initiative, Punjab Police also persuaded six individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
