The Punjab Police have busted an illegal arms smuggling module in a major operation led by the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate, arresting three accused and recovering a significant cache of weapons. Punjab DGP, Gaurav Yadav, on Friday informed that the operation led to the recovery of five pistols (.32 bore), nine magazines, and 22 live cartridges during a special drive conducted in Jalandhar. He said that acting on initial leads developed after an arrest near the Jalandhar Bus Stand, police teams later recovered four additional pistols, eight magazines, and 18 live cartridges that had been concealed near Bhaini Paswal village in Gurdaspur district.

The DGP added that preliminary investigation indicates the module was actively involved in illegal arms smuggling within Punjab. Further investigation is underway to trace both backward and forward linkages in order to dismantle the wider network, he said.
