The Punjab Police has intensified its crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, arresting a second smuggler and seizing an additional 3 kg of heroin, bringing the total haul in the case to 13 kg, officials said on Thursday. The Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar apprehended Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Attari, following leads from an earlier arrest. His associate, Harmandeep Singh, was caught on Wednesday with 10 kg of heroin, allegedly supplied by Pakistan-based smuggler Chacha Bawa using drones.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that Harmandeep had admitted to handing over 3 kg of heroin to Lovepreet. A special police team arrested Lovepreet at the Khasa bus stop on the Amritsar-Attari highway, recovering the drugs from his possession. The investigation continues to trace other operatives in the smuggling network.
