Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives in the bus accident in Bathinda. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured. The Prime Minister’s Office handle in a post on X said: “Saddened by the loss of lives in the bus accident in Bathinda, Punjab. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi”.
At least eight people lost their lives, and over 20 others were injured when a private bus plunged into a canal in Bathinda on Friday. The accident occurred amid heavy rain as the bus, carrying 44 passengers, was traveling from Sardulgarh in Mansa district to Bathinda, roughly 70 kilometers away, according to officials. The bus, operated by New Guru Kashi Transport Company, overturned into the Lissara Drain at Jeevan Singh Wala on Talwandi Road, approximately 13 kilometers from its destination.
