Patiala, July 9
A tragic incident unfolded in Patiala’s Officers Colony where four members of a family allegedly consumed a poisonous substance, leaving two dead and two undergoing treatment at Rajindra Hospital, police said.
According to officials, Vikas Batish died shortly after being taken to the hospital, while his daughter, Khwaish Batish, later succumbed during treatment. His wife, Tamanna Batish, and their son remain admitted to Rajindra Hospital.
DSP Sanjeev Singla of Patiala City said Tamanna Batish’s statement is being recorded under the supervision of a Duty Magistrate at the hospital. He added that further legal action would be taken based on her statement.
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the family allegedly took the extreme step due to a financial dispute involving the exchange of money. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
Authorities said further action will follow after recording the survivor’s statement and completing the investigation.
