Chauhan alleges frustration was visible in Kangana’s behaviour

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s Principal Media Adviser, Naresh Chauhan on Monday criticised Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut over her alleged conduct towards officials during a DISHA meeting, saying the language used by her was inappropriate and she should have maintained decorum.

Chauhan said Ranaut had the right to seek answers and work from officials, but questioned the circumstances that led to the confrontation at the meeting.

He said issues concerning different government schemes should have been discussed separately with the officials concerned instead of being raised in such a manner. He alleged that the incident appeared to be a publicity stunt and claimed that frustration was visible in Ranaut’s behaviour.

Chauhan also referred to Ranaut’s background in the film industry and claimed that she should not have been brought into politics, alleging that the BJP was now regretting the decision.

On the issue of political donations, Chauhan alleged that unregistered parties were receiving donations worth crores of rupees and said the matter required investigation. He questioned the source of such funds and said the model was not appropriate for the future.

Referring to claims of fighting corruption, Chauhan cited the slogan,“Na khaunga, na khane dunga.”  (neither will I take bribes nor allow others to take them), and alleged that investigating agencies had been used to suppress certain matters.

He further claimed that a political party which did not have Rs 100 crore in 2014 now had Rs 10,000 crore, and said the source of such donations should be examined.

Chauhan also criticised Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, saying that while questioning the government was the Opposition’s role, it should also make a constructive contribution.

He said the state government was working to strengthen Himachal Pradesh’s economy and was firmly raising issues concerning the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and the Kishau project.

Chauhan said the state government had launched several public welfare schemes, while Thakur had announced that they would be reviewed if the BJP returned to power.

He said the people would ultimately decide which party and leadership they wanted to bring to power.
