Dharamshala, June 2
In a significant step towards empowering people with disabilities, Act Human NGO organized a special artificial limb distribution and fitment camp in Dharamshala, where around 15 individuals with disabilities from various districts of Himachal Pradesh received modern, lightweight artificial limbs.
The initiative, titled “Steps to a New Life,” aimed at improving mobility and enhancing the quality of life of beneficiaries by enabling them to lead more independent and self-reliant lives. The camp was attended by Dharamshala BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma and Act Human NGO Founder Harleen Kaur, who interacted with beneficiaries and reviewed the services being provided.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudhir Sharma lauded the efforts of Act Human NGO and its founder, Harleen Kaur, for their continued commitment to social welfare. He said the organization has been working tirelessly across North India to support needy and differently-abled individuals.
Sharma noted that the artificial limbs would not only make movement easier for beneficiaries but would also significantly boost their confidence and overall quality of life. He emphasized that losing a limb often forces individuals to depend on others for daily activities, but advancements in prosthetic technology are helping people regain their independence and dignity.
“The smiles and satisfaction visible on the faces of the beneficiaries today are the greatest achievement of the NGO’s efforts,” Sharma said, adding that such initiatives play a crucial role in transforming lives and strengthening social inclusion.
Act Human NGO Founder Harleen Kaur said approximately 15 beneficiaries received artificial limbs during the camp. She explained that traditional prosthetic devices were often heavy and uncomfortable, making them difficult for users. The lightweight, advanced artificial limbs distributed throughout the camp are designed to provide greater comfort, mobility, and ease of use.
Kaur reiterated that the NGO’s primary objective is to bring happiness and self-reliance to those facing physical challenges. She said the organization remains committed to reaching out to underprivileged and specially-abled individuals and helping them live more dignified and independent lives.
The camp witnessed emotional moments as beneficiaries expressed gratitude after receiving the prosthetic limbs, which are expected to help them overcome mobility challenges and participate more actively in everyday life.
