Chandigarh/Ferozepur, May 10

Two senior ministers from the Punjab government visited the Ferozepur district on Satuday, a day after a Pakistani drone strike injured civilians in the border village of Khai Pheme Ki, underscoring the growing security concerns along India’s northwestern frontier. Cabinet ministers Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Hardeep Singh Mundian, acting on the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, toured the affected area and the local hospital where victims are receiving treatment. They assured families of comprehensive support and said the state would “stand firmly with border residents during these testing times.”

The ministers also conducted on-ground assessments with civil and police officials, directing health authorities to prepare for further contingencies. This includes stockpiling essential medicines and reinforcing emergency infrastructure. “We cannot afford delays in response if such incidents recur,” Khudian said, urging preparedness at all levels of district administration.

In light of ongoing tensions, the ministers called on the local population to strictly adhere to safety protocols and government advisories. Emphasis was placed on blackout compliance — a precaution against aerial threats — and on maintaining public calm in a volatile security environment.

Chief Minister Mann is said to be monitoring the situation closely and remains in constant contact with both civil and military authorities. The Punjab government, the ministers reiterated, is fully aligned with national security priorities and committed to safeguarding its border communities.
