Kullu, July 3
Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana on Friday inspected the Jahalma Nallah site and directed officials to expedite the construction of a bridge and a temporary footbridge to restore connectivity in the area. The inspection was attended by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Officer Commanding Paras Kochar, senior officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) and other concerned departments.
During the visit, the MLA reviewed the location where emergency movement is currently being facilitated and inspected the site identified for the construction of the footbridge and the permanent bridge.
She instructed officials from the PWD and the BRO to accelerate the work and ensure that both projects are completed within the stipulated timeframe.
BRO Officer Commanding Paras Kochar assured the MLA that the bridge construction would be completed within the next 15 days.
The Public Works Department was also directed to complete the construction of the footbridge within 10 days to facilitate safe movement for local residents until the permanent bridge is ready.
Interacting with local residents, Rana assured them that every effort would be made to protect their crops and minimise inconvenience during the construction period.
“The administration and the concerned departments are fully committed to assisting the local people. The safety of residents, uninterrupted connectivity and the welfare of farmers remain the government’s highest priorities. We will ensure that crops do not suffer any damage,” she said.
Among those present during the inspection were PWD Executive Engineer Ashwani Guleria, Jal Shakti Department Executive Engineer Ajay Gupta, Zila Parishad members Chhezang Dolma and Poonam, Gram Panchayat heads Krishna and Prem Lal, BDC members Dinesh Kumar and Tashi Kesang, Youth Congress Vice-President Sahil Kattoch, along with local representatives and residents.
