Patiala, June 19

Two accused wanted in connection with the April 27 bomb blast near Shambhu, allegedly aimed at blowing up a railway track, have been deported from Malaysia to India following coordinated efforts by Patiala Police and Indian security agencies.

According to police officials, the deportation was carried out by the Government of India following intelligence inputs shared by Indian security agencies, which were acted on by Malaysian authorities. The suspects were arrested by Malaysia’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the Klang Valley region before being deported.

For security reasons, the identities of the two accused have not yet been disclosed. However, senior police officials in Patiala confirmed the development and said the suspects would be brought to Patiala for interrogation soon.

The case relates to a bomb explosion that occurred on the night of April 27 near Shambhu on the Shambhu–Ambala railway line. Investigators alleged that the blast was intended to damage the railway track.

Police said the explosion was carried out by 30-year-old Jagrup Singh Jupa, a resident of Panjwar village in Tarn Taran district. He reportedly died while planting the explosive device.

Earlier, police arrested four individuals in connection with the case: Pradeep Singh Khalsa, Kulwinder Singh Banga, Satnam Singh Satta and Gurpreet Singh Gopi. Subsequently, another accused, Gurinder Singh alias Baba Banta, was also taken into custody.

Investigators had earlier claimed to have recovered explosive materials and weapons from the arrested suspects. According to police records, Jagrup Singh Jupa was associated with a Nihang organisation.

The investigation into the case remains ongoing, and authorities are expected to question the deported suspects to establish the wider conspiracy behind the attempted railway sabotage.
