An injured leopard with paralyzed hind legs was found in Kotli village in Rajgarh, Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, prompting forest authorities to secure the area and initiate rescue efforts.

The animal was spotted by local residents in Ward No. 7 of Kotli village on Friday morning. Villagers informed the Forest Department after noticing that the leopard was unable to move.

District Forest Officer Sameer Raj of Rajgarh said the leopard’s hind legs were not functioning, leaving it stranded there. He said the exact cause of the condition has not yet been determined, though officials suspect the animal may have suffered serious injuries, possibly in an accident.

According to the information, the Wildlife Department was alerted, and a specialized rescue team from Shimla was called to the site. Officials said the leopard will be shifted to Shimla for treatment once the rescue operation is completed.

A detailed medical examination will be conducted after the animal is brought to the wildlife facility to determine the cause of the injury and paralysis.

Forest Department personnel have been deployed at the site and are maintaining continuous surveillance. Authorities have also appealed to residents not to approach or disturb the leopard until the rescue operation is completed.

Officials said further action will be taken after wildlife experts assess the animal’s condition.
