The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 27. Uttarakhand may also see heavy rains on September 28. Jammu valley is expected to experience light rain in isolated areas today.
The IMD noted that a cyclonic circulation previously located over southern Chhattisgarh has shifted to northern Madhya Maharashtra, extending to the middle troposphere. A trough now extends from this cyclonic system over north Maharashtra to northern Bangladesh, reaching similar altitudes.
