Panchkula, June 4

With a view to intensify campaign against corruption, Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General, A.S. Chawla, launched a new citizen reporting app in Panchkula on Thursday. While addressing a press conference at the bureau headquarters, Chawla said that the bureau has focused on building a transparent system since he assumed office on January 2.

Sharing details, he said that the upcoming mobile application will enable citizens to report corrupt officials directly, helping authorities take swift action against offenders. The ACB chief also shared updates on the Panchkula Municipal Corporation bank scam, saying several arrests have already been made and further action will follow if more names surface during the investigation. He clarified that innocent individuals would not be harassed during the probe.

Speaking about anti-corruption operations, Chawla revealed that the bureau conducted 67 raids between January 1 and May 31, leading to multiple arrests, including government officials and private individuals caught red-handed while allegedly accepting bribes.

He further said that recommendations for investigations against 63 gazetted and 10 non-gazetted officers have been sent to the government in 40 separate cases.

The ACB has also introduced measures to support complainants, including quicker return of bribe money through a revolving fund and plans to honour individuals who stand firm in court and help secure convictions against corrupt officials.
