Gadkari assures support for key Himachal road projects: Vikramaditya Singh

Shimla, August 6 Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Thursday and urged for fast approvals and additional funding for several road and bridge projects across the state.

According to the state government, Gadkari gave in-principle approval for the release of ₹25.11 crore to improve and resurface the Banjar–Aut stretch of National Highway 305, a route considered important for connectivity in Kullu district.

Vikramaditya Singh also requested the Union minister to expedite approval of the proposed ₹1,775 crore Jalori Tunnel project. The government said Gadkari directed ministry officials to speed up the sanctioning process.

The PWD minister further sought ₹395 crore for the Nagrota Bagwan–Ranital section of National Highway 303, with the Union minister giving in-principle approval for the proposal, according to the state government.

During the meeting, Vikramaditya Singh thanked Gadkari for approving two road projects worth ₹239.45 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for 2026-27. The projects include the upgradation of the Tikar–Jarol–Gahan–Nankhadi–Khamadi road and the Chaila–Neripul–Yashwant Nagar–Kumarhatti road. He said the improvements would strengthen road connectivity in apple-growing areas and benefit horticulturists.

The minister also urged the Centre to release ₹3.46 crore for bridge construction under the Setu Bandhan programme, sanction additional projects under CRIF and Setu Bandhan, and increase Himachal Pradesh’s annual CRIF allocation to ₹200 crore. The state government said Gadkari assured all possible assistance.

Separately, Vikramaditya Singh met AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in New Delhi to discuss organisational matters and development issues related to Himachal Pradesh.

According to a statement, the meeting reviewed party organisation, cadre engagement and governance-related issues in the state. Vikramaditya Singh also invited Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to visit Himachal Pradesh to interact with party workers and participate in public programmes.
