Shahpur MLA says administration, NHAI and departments will meet soon.
Dharamshala, September 18
Road repair work in Dharamshala-McLeodganj and other tourist areas is expected to be expedited ahead of the tourism season, with Shahpur MLA and Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania saying a district-level meeting will soon review the situation.
Pathania said the poor condition of the roads connecting Dharamshala with McLeodganj and other tourist destinations had been taken up, and directions had also been issued to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) regarding repairs.
He said he had raised the issue of deteriorating roads in the Assembly, following which the Chief Minister had assured that funds will be made available for the required work.
With the tourism season approaching, Pathania said tourist movement in Dharamshala and McLeodganj generally increases, making road infrastructure improvements important.
He said he had also discussed the issue with the Superintendent of Police, Kangra, during his visit and that a meeting involving the district administration, NHAI and concerned departments will be convened soon to decide on the necessary action.
Pathania also referred to the poor condition of the Khara Danda Road connecting Dharamshala with McLeodganj and said the road will also be repaired.
He said efforts will be accelerated to improve the road conditions before the tourism season begins.
