Dharamshala, June 18
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated a new city bus depot and an electric vehicle charging station in Dharamshala on Wednesday, marking another step in the state government’s push towards sustainable, environmentally friendly transport. He also flagged off three inter-city buses and travelled in an electric bus from the HRTC workshop to the Circuit House to promote green mobility initiatives.
Addressing the media, Sukhu said the establishment of e-charging stations was part of his government’s first budget and reflected its commitment to transforming Himachal Pradesh into a green state. He said the government is actively promoting electric vehicles and green hydrogen to ensure cleaner and safer environmental conditions across the state.
The Chief Minister said additional buses would be provided in Dharamshala based on public demand and operational requirements.
On political issues, Sukhu hit back at former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur over remarks concerning the police recruitment paper leak case. He alleged that major recruitment irregularities, including the police recruitment paper leak and the alleged Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission scam in Hamirpur, occurred during the BJP regime.
He claimed that examination papers were sold and several ineligible candidates secured appointments during that period. Referring to the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination, Sukhu said the BJP should answer questions on recruitment and examination-related controversies.
The Chief Minister asserted that all recruitment examinations conducted by the State Selection Commission under the present government are being held through a computer-based system, ensuring transparency and accountability. He warned that anyone found involved in malpractice during recruitment processes would face strict legal action.
Speaking on the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), Sukhu reiterated his government’s commitment to providing pension benefits to eligible employees. He said the state government is considering extending OPS benefits to more eligible employees in the future.
He also alleged that the Centre has withheld approximately ₹1,600 crore due to Himachal Pradesh but maintained that the state government would continue to safeguard employees’ interests. Sukhu categorically stated that the Old Pension Scheme would not be discontinued under his government.
