China Confirms Agreement with India to End Eastern Ladakh Standoff

 China confirmed on Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with India to resolve the standoff between their armies in eastern Ladakh.  “China and India have maintained close communication through diplomatic and military channels regarding the China-India border. The two sides have successfully resolved these matters, a development that China highly values,” Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, told the media.

The agreement includes a plan to resume patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), leading to disengagement in disputed border areas. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed this development at a press conference on October 21, highlighting recent diplomatic and military negotiations between the two nations.

Providing details, Misri said that Indian and Chinese officials have been in close contact over the past weeks, discussing various platforms, which culminated in the agreement on patrolling arrangements. This effectively addresses issues that have arisen in the region since 2020.
