The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to announce the new Chief Minister of Haryana on October 16, just one day before the oath-taking ceremony in Panchkula, the party confirmed. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have been appointed as central observers to oversee the selection of the new leader of the BJP legislature party in Haryana. An official letter from BJP national general secretary Arun Singh was issued in this regard.
The central observers will meet with the 48 newly elected BJP legislators on October 16 to gather their viewpoints. During the election campaign, Amit Shah had indicated that Nayab Singh Saini would become Chief Minister if the BJP returned to power in Haryana. Saini remains the frontrunner, but senior BJP leaders Anil Vij and Rao Inderjit Singh have also shown interest in the position. During the meeting, Cabinet ministers will also be selected, with representatives from various community groups to reflect the state’s diverse population, said the sources.
