Six sports, including MMA, Teqball, and Padel, make their entry in the Asian Games 2026

The 2026 Asian Games, the 20th edition of the continental multi-sport event, will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, with 43 sports and 71 disciplines scheduled across the competition.
A total of 439 medals will be awarded during the Games, with 11,000 athletes and more than 6,000 officials expected to take part, according to the details provided.
China is sending 815 athletes to the Asian Games, while India is sending 501 athletes across 36 sports.
The Women’s Cricket Quarterfinals began on September 17. The first match between Bangladesh and China was abandoned due to a wet outfield. The second quarterfinal, between Pakistan and Thailand, was underway during the filing of this report.
The Indian women’s cricket team played its quarterfinal against Japan on September 18.
Six sports have expanded their presence in the Games. These include mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Teqball, Padel, Surfing, BMX Freestyle and Virtual Taekwondo.
The Indian contingent is taking part in 32 sports, including Athletics, Cricket, Field Hockey, Badminton, Shooting, Boxing, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Kabaddi, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Golf, Archery, Sailing, Rowing, Canoeing, Swimming, Cycling, Gymnastics, Teqball, Esports, MMA, Sepak Takraw, Kurash, Wushu, Sport Climbing, Surfing, Soft Tennis and Padel.
