Anmol TV’s first original fiction show explores love, marriage and changing relationships
Mumbai , August 21
Anmol TV, the free-to-air Hindi general entertainment channel from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), has ventured into original fiction with its new show ‘Humari Radha’, starring Simran Kaur, Akshay Mhatre and Vaidehi Nair in lead roles.
The show airs daily at 9:30 pm and explores changing dynamics in marriage and relationships through the journey of a woman who finds her strength amid betrayal. Simran Kaur plays Radha Girdhar Maurya, Akshay Mhatre portrays Girdhar Maurya, and Vaidehi Nair plays Shanaya Srivastava.
Set in Kishanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai, the story follows Radha, a deeply rooted woman who moves to Mumbai with her husband Girdhar. However, her traditional values and belief system gradually come into conflict with Girdhar’s ambitions and aspirations.
As Girdhar begins to distance himself from their marriage and grows closer to his modern and ambitious colleague Shanaya, Radha’s life begins to unravel. The show explores the contrast between tradition and modernity while focusing on Radha’s journey of confronting reality, finding courage, and rediscovering her strength.
The central conflict revolves around Radha, Girdhar, and Shanaya as their differing perspectives on love, relationships, and aspirations reshape their lives. The characters are positioned against a changing social environment where personal choices increasingly challenge traditional expectations.
Mangesh Kulkarni, Chief Channel Officer, Zee TV and FTA, said the show explores marriage, relationships, and the choices that shape them through a strong, rooted protagonist.
“With ‘Humari Radha’, we are bringing audiences a story that looks at marriage, relationships and the choices that shape them. Radha’s journey gives us an opportunity to explore these themes through a strong, rooted protagonist while placing her in a world that is changing around her,” Kulkarni said.
He added that the show marks an important step in Anmol TV’s content journey as its first original fiction offering. The channel aims to develop a slate of fresh stories for FTA audiences while remaining connected to their values, aspirations and everyday realities.
Simran Kaur said playing Radha was a special experience for her, describing the character as simple, warm, and deeply rooted in her values. She said Radha’s journey becomes more compelling as she learns to stand up for herself when her marriage is tested.
Akshay Mhatre, who plays Girdhar, described his character as an ambitious man who wants to build a better life but faces the consequences of his choices. He said the conflict between Girdhar’s ambitions and responsibilities makes the character layered and interesting.
Vaidehi Nair said Shanaya is a confident, modern, and ambitious woman who is clear about what she wants. She said Shanaya’s contrasting perspective adds another dimension to Radha and Girdhar’s relationship and changes the story’s dynamics.
