Actor opens up about fatherhood, family and work ahead of India Ke Top 1% premiere

At 69, Bollywood star Anil Kapoor continues to take on new challenges, but a conversation on his upcoming quiz show India Ke Top 1%: The Anil Kapoor Show prompted the actor to reflect on a more personal chapter of his life.

During a conversation with a contestant, Kapoor recalled missing the birth of his daughter Rhea Kapoor because he was working through the night. He said the experience remained something he had never been able to forgive himself for.

“Jab main aapki umar ka tha aur Rhea paida hui thi, main hospital late pahuncha tha… Rhea ki delivery ho gayi thi aur main kuch waqt baad wahan pahuncha,” Kapoor said during the show.

Reflecting on fatherhood, he added, “Having a daughter is a bonus, aur meri do daughters hain, Sonam aur Rhea, toh mere liye double bonus hai.”

Kapoor also spoke about learning the importance of making time for family, drawing a comparison with his sons-in-law, whom he said manage to make time for both family and work.

India Ke Top 1%: The Anil Kapoor Show, produced by Banijay Asia, will premiere on September 19 at 8 pm on Star Plus and JioHotstar.

The show will feature 100 contestants competing through questions designed to test logic, observation and reasoning. Viewers will also be able to Play Along from Home on JioHotstar and stand a chance to win prizes including smart TVs and smartphones.
