Akali Dal leader Injured in firing Incident in Mansa

Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Zila Parishad member Dalvir Singh Kala was injured after an unidentified motorcycle borne assailant opened fire at him in Bareta town of Punjab’s Mansa district on Monday evening, police said. The accused fled the scene after the attack, and an investigation has been launched. According to police, Kala was leaving his shop in the local grain market when the assailant intercepted him and fired at him before escaping. He sustained a bullet injury and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Eyewitnesses said only one shot appeared to have been fired during the incident. Local resident Gurjant Singh said the attacker looked to be in his twenties. Police have begun an investigation and are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the accused. Officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
