Chandigarh, December 12

Two days before his highly anticipated performance in Chandigarh, singer Diljit Dosanjh received a cautionary advisory from the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The Commission recommended that Dosanjh refrain from performing some of his popular tracks, including “Patiala Peg,” citing concerns over their promotion of alcohol, drugs, and violence, which may negatively influence children.

Dosanjh is scheduled to perform at Sector 34 Grounds on December 14 as part of his ‘Dil-Luminati’ India Tour. The Commission urged the singer to avoid performing songs like “Patiala Peg,” “5 Tara,” and “Case,” even if the lyrics are altered, as they contain references to substances and violence.

In a statement to the media, Shipra Bansal, Chairperson of the Commission, further advised Dosanjh not to invite children onto the stage during his concert, citing potential harm due to the high sound levels exceeding 120 decibels. The organizers were also instructed to ensure that alcohol is not served to those under the age of 25, in compliance with legal provisions.

Bansal noted that similar advisories were issued for other artists, including singer Karan Aujla, in the past.
