Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday praised Punjab for becoming a national role model by providing government jobs to youth in every village. Speaking at an event to mark the recruitment of 1,746 constables in the Punjab Police, Kejriwal said the state government had created more than 48,000 jobs through a fair and transparent process. He added that every village in Punjab now has at least one government employee, a significant achievement for the state.
Kejriwal affirmed that the AAP government would continue its job creation drive, aiming to integrate youth into the socio-economic development of the state. He also urged the newly recruited constables to serve the public with dedication and pride, highlighting the role of the Punjab Police as one of the most disciplined and decorated forces in the country.
The former Delhi Chief Minister emphasized that Punjab had seen remarkable improvements in law and order since the AAP took office, noting a sharp decline in criminal activities. He added that investments worth over Rs 60,000 crore had been secured, which are expected to generate over 300,000 jobs and further stimulate the state’s progress.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, also addressing the event, expressed pride in the state’s achievements and urged youth to honor the sacrifices of national martyrs, particularly Kartar Singh Sarabha. He credited Kejriwal for bringing critical sectors such as health, education, power, water, and infrastructure to the forefront of national politics, emphasizing their importance to the state’s development.
Mann also highlighted that the recruitment of more than 48,000 youth in government jobs was a testament to the AAP government’s commitment to merit-based employment. He announced plans to create 10,000 additional posts in the Punjab Police, which he said would help reduce crime while providing more job opportunities for the youth.
The Chief Minister also pointed to the success of the Sadak Surakhya Force, a road safety initiative launched by the state government, which has reduced road accident fatalities by 45%.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav and Secretary of Home Affairs Gurkirat Kirpal Singh were also present at the event, where the new recruits were formally inducted into the Punjab Police.
