New Delhi, October 15
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is set to represent India at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting on October 16, said the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday. The 23rd SCO CHG session will take place in Islamabad, chaired by Pakistan. Jaishankar is scheduled to depart for Islamabad later today, marking the first visit by an Indian External Affairs Minister to Pakistan since 2015, and the first trip by an Indian minister since 2016.
India continues its active engagement within the SCO, participating in various initiatives and mechanisms under the organisation’s framework. The SCO CHG meeting, held annually, emphasizes trade and economic cooperation among member states.
