Former MP and senior Akali leader Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra on Friday rejoined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Friday after party president Sukhbir Singh Badal visited his residence and formally welcomed him back into the party. In another organisational announcement, Badal appointed Chandumajra’s son, Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra, as in-charge of the Sanaur Assembly constituency.
Addressing a press conference, Badal said the Akali Dal had been revived and claimed that the SAD (Punar Surjit) faction had now ceased to exist. He also indicated that several prominent leaders would join the party in the coming days.
Badal also raised the issue of alleged irregularities in Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) examinations. He claimed that irregularities had occurred in several examinations conducted by the state government and said that if the SAD came to power, all such cases would be investigated.
