The administration and the Food Safety Department conducted an early-morning raid at a dairy products factory on Stadium Road in Leharagaga on Thursday recovering around 200 kg of paneer, along with a large quantity of desi ghee and cream.
The operation was led by SDM Rakesh Prakash, accompanied by Food Safety Officer Seema Rani and a team from the department. The inspection was carried out following repeated complaints against the factory.
During the raid, the Food Safety Department collected samples of paneer, desi ghee, curd, cream and paneer-making ingredients for laboratory testing. The inspection was part of the administration’s efforts to ensure the quality and safety of dairy products ahead of the festive season.
SDM Rakesh Prakash said complaints against the factory had been received for a considerable period, prompting the administration to conduct the inspection in coordination with the Sangrur Food Safety Department.
He said all collected samples would be sent to a laboratory for examination. If any violations of food safety or quality standards were established, legal action would be initiated against the factory in accordance with the law.
The administration has also urged shopkeepers and factory owners to ensure that only hygienic and quality food products are supplied to consumers, particularly during the festive season.
Food Safety Officer Seema Rani said the department would ensure strict compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
