Chandigarh: Some screen reunions bring back cherished memories, while others arrive with a story that speaks directly to the present. Nearly 39 years after winning hearts as Ram and Sita in Ramayan, Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia are reuniting on screen in “Notice”, bringing a wave of nostalgia for audiences who remember their iconic association.
This time, however, the story moves from the world of mythology to the everyday reality of a family fighting to protect its legacy.
There are no mythological kingdoms to defend or epic battlefields to cross. Instead, there is a 150-year-old shop, an ordinary family and a system that threatens to take away everything they have built over generations.
Govil plays a common man who refuses to give up his ancestral shop in the face of corruption and rising capitalism. For him, the shop is more than a commercial establishment; it is a living testament to his family’s journey, carrying decades of hard work, sacrifice and emotional attachment. Chikhlia plays his supportive wife, standing by him as he takes on the challenges threatening their family’s legacy.
Directed by Pradeep Gupta and written and produced by Aditya Pratap Singh Raghuvanshi, the film also features Pankaj Jha.
The title “Notice” sets the stage for a compelling confrontation. What happens when an official document threatens a family’s entire existence? Does an ordinary citizen quietly surrender or does the threat become the beginning of a fight for justice?
At the heart of the narrative lies a question with wider social relevance: Can an ordinary citizen stand up to a system that threatens years of hard work and the legacy of generations? The film explores themes of truth, courage and the struggle to protect what rightfully belongs to a family.
Scheduled to premiere on the WAVES OTT app on November 6, 2026, the film will subsequently reach audiences through 36 satellite television channels. It will not have a theatrical release.
For Govil and Chikhlia, the reunion marks their return to the screen together after nearly four decades. For audiences, it offers an opportunity to see a familiar pairing in a different light. This time, instead of an epic tale, the two actors find themselves in a contemporary story where family, justice and the courage to stand one’s ground take centre stage.
