Chikitha Taniparthi features in both gold-winning teams as India eyes more medals across hockey, wrestling and judo

India won two gold medals in compound archery at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday, with the women’s team equalling the world record score of 238 and the mixed team defeating South Korea in a dramatic tie-break shoot-off.
The women’s compound archery team comprising Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi equalled the world record score of 238 to beat China and claim the gold medal.
India also secured the top spot in the mixed compound archery event. Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav defeated South Korea after the two teams finished the regular ends at 157-157.
The Indian pair won the shoot-off 20-19 to secure the gold medal and a qualification quota for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
India’s men’s compound archery team of Sahil Jadhav, Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru and Kushal Dalal will face the Republic of Korea in the semifinal.
In wrestling, Sunil Kumar will compete against Callum Johnston Roberts of the Philippines in the men’s 87-kg Greco-Roman bronze-medal match.
Nisha Dahiya is out of the tournament in the women’s freestyle 68-kg category.
In judo, Asmita Dey defeated Hong Kong’s Lee Ka Wong by yuko in a hard-fought four-minute repechage bout. She has advanced to the bronze-medal match.
In boxing, Priya Ghanghas lost by chinese boxer Yang Chengyu by 4-1 scorecard at 60-kg semifinal.
India’s official medal tally stood at 54 medals on Day 12 so far.
