Indian shooters also win team silver in women’s individual trap shooting final, while squash team enters quarterfinals

Indian shooter Neeru Dhanda won the gold medal in the women’s individual trap shooting final at the Asian Games on September 29, scoring 28 of 30 targets to set a new Asian record.

26-year-old Neeru Dhanda defeated Chinese shooter Sun Yunong 28-26 in the final to secure India’s first-ever individual gold medal in women’s trap shooting at the Asian Games.

In the team event, Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer won the silver medal with a score of 328. The Chinese side claimed gold with 346 points.

India also progressed in squash, defeating Iran as Tanvi Khanna, Anahat Singh and Joshna Chinappa completed a clean sweep in the tie. The result saw India qualify for the quarterfinals.

In recurve archery, Neeraj Chauhan defeated South Korea’s Kim Je Deok to advance further. Chauhan beat the South Korean archer, described in the source as a multiple-time Olympic gold medallist.

India’s official medal tally stood at 47 on Day 11 so far.
