Women’s cricket team to face Sri Lanka for gold on Tuesday; Roshibina Devi, Aryan advance to wushu quarters

India continued its campaign at the 20th edition of the Asian Games in Japan on Monday, with the contingent competing across 36 sports disciplines and recording wins in hockey, badminton, table tennis, boxing and kabaddi, besides advancing in several other events on Day 3.
The Indian women’s cricket team will face Sri Lanka in the gold medal match on Tuesday.
In hockey, the Indian women’s team defeated Indonesia 17-1 in their Pool B match.
In table tennis, the Indian women’s team defeated Pakistan 3-0, while the Indian men’s team also recorded a 3-0 victory over Pakistan.
The Indian men’s kabaddi team defeated Japan 49-24, while the women’s team beat Bangladesh 42-21.
The Indian men’s badminton team defeated Bangladesh 3-0 to enter the quarter-finals.
In boxing, Sumit Kundu won his men’s 70-kg Round of 32 bout with a 5-0 unanimous decision over Thailand’s Bunjong Sinsiri.
In wushu, Naorem Roshibina Devi defeated Most Shika Khatun in the women’s 60-kg Round of 16 to enter the quarter-finals. She will compete in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday.
In the men’s 56-kg Round of 16, Aryan defeated Shahzada Safi to progress to the quarterfinals, which will also be played on Tuesday.
In swimming, India’s Srihari Nataraj finished 10th and last in the men’s 50-metre backstroke final with a timing of 25.52 seconds.
In soft tennis, Indian mixed doubles pair Jay Meena and Aadhya Tiwari, the Asian and World Championship bronze medallists, lost 2-5 to the Philippines’ Sherwin Nuguit and Christy Sanosa in the round of 16, missing out on a place in the quarterfinals.
India’s medal tally stood at six medals, including four silver and two bronze, at the end of Day 3.
