CIA team seizes 7.22 grams of heroin from Baleno in Kangra

Police say the accused is being questioned about the source and the intended supply

The Kangra police’s CIA team recovered 7.22 grams of heroin, locally referred to as chitta, from a car near Gaj Khadd bridge in Rajol under Gaggal police station limits and arrested a 35-year-old man, police said.

The police also took into possession the Baleno car allegedly used in the case.

Kangra Superintendent of Police Kulbhushan Verma said the CIA team received secret information late on September 20 and set up a naka near Gaj Khadd bridge to check vehicles.

During the checking, the Baleno car was stopped and searched. The police said 7.22 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of the car driver.

The accused was identified as Lucky, 35, a resident of Garh Bankhandi in Dehra tehsil of Kangra district.

The police registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and arrested him.

SP Kulbhushan Verma said the police were questioning the accused to find out where he had obtained the heroin and to whom it was allegedly intended to be supplied.

Further investigation in the case is underway, the police said.
