New facility houses CM, Chief Secretary offices; Cabinet expansion and portfolio reshuffle announced
Shimla, September 21
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday inaugurated Phase-II of the Ellerslie Building at the state Secretariat in Shimla, housing offices of the CM and Chief Secretary.
Sukhu said the Rs 20-crore facility belonged to the people of the state and would make it easier for visitors to meet the CM, while reducing traffic disruptions caused by the move to the previous office.
The building currently has 15 completed rooms, while offices for ministers are under construction. Sukhu said the facility was meant for the CM’s office and would be used by whoever holds the post in the future.
He also announced that the state Cabinet would be expanded soon and ministerial portfolios would be reshuffled.
On the Kishau Dam project, Sukhu said the government had raised Himachal’s concerns with the Centre and signed an MoU without conditions. He said the project would provide the state an annual benefit of Rs 1,200 crore to Rs 1,500 crore after its expected completion within five years.
