Manali, September 19
Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur on Saturday inaugurated a two-day workshop organised by the Higher Education Department under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) at Devalok near 15 Mile, Manali.
In all, 133 principals from colleges across the state are participating in the workshop, which is focused on strengthening higher education and improving learning outcomes for students.
Thakur inaugurated the workshop by lighting a ceremonial lamp. Manali MLA Bhuvneshwar Gaur was also present at the opening session.
The workshop includes discussions on ways to improve the quality of education and promote skill-based learning to help students build better career prospects.
Talking to the media, Thakur said successive state governments, from the first Chief Minister to the present one, had continuously worked towards improving the standard of education in Himachal Pradesh.
He said the meeting was aimed at discussing how quality education and skill-based education could contribute to a better future for students.
“Himachal Pradesh ranked second in education standards after Goa, while the state government is making efforts to further strengthen the education sector,” he added.
The minister attributed the government’s work in education to the vision of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
He said the workshop was being organised in Kullu after Shimla as part of efforts to deliberate on ways to further improve higher education in the state.
The Himachal Pradesh Government’s official portal lists Rohit Thakur as the state’s Education Minister with responsibility for School Education, Higher Education, Printing and Stationery.
