Kullu, September 17

Acting Deputy Commissioner-cum-ADM Surjeet Singh Rathore reviewed the implementation of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and preparations for upcoming programmes at a meeting held in Kullu.

The meeting discussed a district-level mega event to mark the sixth anniversary of the campaign, proposed to be held in the fourth or fifth week of September. The programme will include awareness activities, community participation and a public pledge.

Rathore directed officials to identify areas vulnerable to substance abuse and undertake focused prevention and awareness activities. He also directed departments to extend the campaign to the panchayat level and ensure greater participation of young people and students.

He said services at the Addiction Treatment Facility, Bhuntar, were being strengthened to improve treatment and counselling for people affected by substance abuse.

District Welfare Officer and Member Secretary Girdhari Lal Sharma said various activities, including sports competitions, street plays, slogan writing, poster making, marathons, cyclothons, walkathons and yoga programmes, had already been organised in the district.

He said departments and stakeholders had been asked to submit action-taken reports, participant details and photographs of public pledges on time for uploading on the campaign portal.

Additional Superintendent of Police Manmohan Singh, officials from various departments and representatives of voluntary organisations attended the meeting.
