As many as 29 skaters from Chandigarh have been selected to represent India in different age-group categories of Roller Hockey and Inline Hockey at the upcoming 5th World Skate Games, scheduled to be held in Asunción of Paraguay from October 2 to 18, 2026. The selections were made following the selection trials conducted by the Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI) in Chandigarh. More than 250 skaters from across the country had registered for the two-day selection trials held on August 30 and 31.

The trials for Inline Hockey and Roller Hockey were conducted at the Sector 10 Skating Rink, while the selection trials for Skateboarding and Freestyle were held at the Skate Park in Sector 17. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports had appointed Sports Authority of India (SAI) official Khushboo Soni as the observer for the selection trials.

The Chandigarh Roller Skating Association (CRSA), affiliated with the Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI), was closely involved in the conduct and coordination of the trials. Harpreet Singh, General Secretary, CRSA, and Sanan Mahajan, Joint Secretary, CRSA, were appointed as coordinators for the selection trials.

Congratulating the selected skaters, Arun Walia, President, Chandigarh Roller Skating Association, said Chandigarh had once again demonstrated its strength in the hockey disciplines of skating.
“Chandigarh has been a dominating force in the country, especially in Roller Hockey and Inline Hockey, and I am happy that we have a significant presence in the Indian contingent for the World Skate Games. I congratulate all the selected skaters and wish them the very best for the Games in Paraguay.”

Harpreet Singh, General Secretary, CRSA, a former international player and coach, said preparations for the selected players would continue ahead of the Games.
“Our training is going well and shortly we will be having a coaching camp for the selected players. We hope to see the Indian skaters doing well at the World Skate Games.”

Sanan Mahajan, Joint Secretary, CRSA, who was also the manager of the Indian team at the 2025 Asian Championship, highlighted the growing representation of girls from Chandigarh.
“It is good that we have more girls from Chandigarh making it to the Indian contingent. Out of the 29 skaters from Chandigarh who have made it to the Indian squads, 15 are girls. This is an encouraging sign and shows the growing strength of women and girls in skating in Chandigarh.”
